A completely normal RPG about finding and slaying a large dragon. It may take a minute or two to load a new game. That's also completely normal.

The game is about 60~90 minutes long.

Made for the Cookie Cutter RM2k3 Jam in early 2026.

Though you can play online, the sound is going to be a lot better if you download the game!

Huge fan of this.  Not only is it a great technical achievement, but the game is balanced in a way that gives you different tools to work with on each run.  The characters work well together, and there are multiple ways to solve every problem or use your resources, which is important to make the multiple playthrough aspect work.

Now I'm curious how a community race of this game would go (using a premade save file as a "seed").  Though it would need to be prescreened somehow to make sure that it isn't one of the broken seeds (I got one of those too, unfortunately).

Thanks for letting me seek the dragon! :P

I just realized that you aren't on the Discord, so I'll post my playthrough details here in ROT13:

Yeah, I hate Discord for anything but DMs so I leave servers pretty often, sorry! Nothing personal to anyone there.

I'm really glad to hear a Cedar shout-out. Everyone loves Karin and Uuva, nobody loves Cedar any. Poor guy. I definitely made Queensblade too easy to get but maybe that's just how it needs to be to give people a leg up.

Despite pre-empting me: thank you for seeking the dragon! Really appreciate hearing you tried it multiple times.

really love the hard-earned progression from having to completely drain my mp if i want to not deal peanuts for damage, to multiple party members cranking out the deeps. karin carried my team for most of the game because i got queensblade early, but uuva with her full-party speed and def debuffs was my real mvp

thank you for seeking the dragon.

the 2k3 battle system is so funny. any tweaks to AGI just destroy it. i felt that letting uuva do that with the tradeoff of her also being the best potential nuker (if you choose to spend gold on her runes) was pretty fair lol

One of the most technically impressive things in the jam...love that you can have a run where the dragon could be right there in the town (my first run, before I realized what was going on, where I walked immediately back out lol). Good meaty dungeon crawl that I've made some progress in but not completed, but definitely looking forward to coming back to.

thank you for seeking the dragon (and the big compliment ~ )!

Randomization was perfect for this sort of game given that many of us playing are already familiar with the default maps. I like how it recontextualized the town and shops - they felt like pockets of safety in the context of a massive dungeon. Learning the characters' movesets and becoming stronger felt good, and every piece of loot, every newly discovered NPC felt meaningful and earned. I think this scratches the sort of itch that I wish roguelikes actually scratched

Thank you for seeking the dragon.

I feel pretty similarly re: roguelikes lol. Glad you enjoyed it and got exactly what I wanted folks to get out of it, out of it!

Loved the way the randomization and progression works. Great way to force me to memorize where exactly each entrance/exit lead to.

Glad you had fun! Thank you for seeking the dragon.

I thought this was really fun! As others have mentioned, the progression and exploration works really well, and there's a number of surprises to give some interesting encounters, like the random boss and kappas, very good stuff ^^

I went through all the exits I knew of but didn't find the dragon yet. I beat the reaper boss though, which was pretty tough? Pretty impressive how well this works, I'm sure the randomization was very difficult to implement :O

Monster goo is a good universal healing item name, everyone knows of healing goo XD

Did you try the well and both the north and south exits of town? Otherwise you may be the second person to break it, oops;;

Thank you for seeking the dragon, glad you enjoyed it!

I couldn't get into the town map; the number of maps I believe I could reach was low, though it's possible there was just an exit I was missing. Even if it occasionally misfires, the randomization is a really awesome piece of work, so I don't mind or nothin'. Amazing job still :3

the map generation is very funny and gives the game an interesting loop as you figure out how everything works and how to approach battles. great idea and it's fun to play!

thank you for seeking the dragon!

This was so goddam cool... I think I had access to almost all the maps in my seed, had a blast slowly exploring and finding all the little shops and ways to replenish my resources. Extremely satisfying number balancing/progression arc, I felt so cool and strong at the end. Thanks so much for joining the jam!!

(+1)

Thank you for seeking the dragon, and for hosting the jam so I could attempt one last(?) rm2k3 miracle LOL

When I first tried it, I waited 5 minutes or whatever for the loading to finish, and it said something like "Error in map generation" and told me to close the game, so I thought it was a prank until I read the comments.

This was a really meaty crunchy experience. I like the wealth of options you have to experiment with. I think some of the areas were inaccessible in my generated world (forest, parts of the tower) but I still managed to win.

Thank you for seeking the dragon.

Yeah, the loading takes a bit cuz it's trying to make sure the random hook-ups can reach the town and final boss within two transfers from the world map or town.  Some maps are definitely missing each run cuz I didn't just want to like, swap single-exit maps with each other... I wanted it to be really random. I decided I was cool with this and just added a couple ways to heal throughout. I especially like it cuz it means it's really rare to get all four characters' ultimate weapons so you're more invested in drops (or if you're lucky enough, stores lol).

Glad you appreciated the crunchy flavor. Thanks again.

Once I got the hang of it, I realized my town RNG was pretty lucky. Very easy access to it, as well as the potion shop, weapon shop, and cat (who I never ended up buying from because immediately after I discovered it I beat the game). Here's how my game went:

I found a chest guarded by four skeletons. They absolutely rocked everyone except Karin, who outlasted them with Absorb Life and gained a bunch of XP. Conveniently in a chest was an amazing sword for her, so she lugged around the party's corpses until I found the lady selling feathers. Wandered around, eventually getting an even better sword for Karin from a random enemy drop. Gave every accessory and favorite tab I found to Karin, eventually opened the World Bangle chest and beat up the dog. By the time I made it back to the dragon, Karin was level 8 (everyone else level 7), and Absorb Life largely carried that fight to victory, as well. Turns out her name is Karin because she's Karin the team on her fuckin back

Absolutely incredible execution, you found a way to turn the jam's limited layout into a sprawling dungeon maze. I never did find the beach, I wonder how I'd have fared against the kraken...

the way the maps are stitched together.

my brain hurts.

good job.

thank you for seeking the dragon. you'll be happy to know i AM submitting this one to rmn lol

Fun little game. Also very funny that it takes so long for the engine to load this ahahahaha.

its pretty random, sometimes it gets a good route on the first try and sometimes... lol. either way i also find it funny that i made a 2k3 game have to load

thanks for seeking the dragon, glad you enjoyed it!

Wow, super cool! :DDD Struggled a little early on, but once I got the hang of it, I really enjoyed collecting items and cool stuff for the party and all the characters have very neat skillsets that work well together :DDDDD

As for the gimmick, I had no idea you could even do that in 2k3! Amazing! Made for some fun surprises as well!

Thumbs up!

thank you for seeking the dragon. i did not know i could do this either until i slammed my soul into 2k3
